The inkjet printer is one of the most common types of printer n the market, particularly for home use. For this reason a lot of people have an inkjet printer at home. Some of them may be curious as to what an inkjet printer actually does and what is inside it.
The first thing to note is that an inkjet printer is a non impact printer. This means that the print head of the printer does not actually touch the paper it is printing on. Instead tiny drops of very directed ink are sprayed onto the paper. The drops are so tiny that they cannot be distinguished by the naked eye. Each dot is smaller than the diameter of a human hair.
The print head of an inkjet printer is make of five parts. The print head itself, the ink cartridges, the print head stepper motor, a belt, and a stabilizer bar. This is the portion of the printer that will do the actual spraying of the ink and printing of the document or image.
The print head needs to have paper fed under it and in order to do this the inkjet printer will have a paper feed assembly. This is made of three parts. The paper tray, where the actual paper sits, rollers to move to paper and a paper feed stepper motor to drive the rollers.
The printer will also need power. Most printers now use an external plug that is plugged into the main electrical supply of the house or office it is being used in.
There is also a substantial amount of computer technology in an inkjet printer. This is there to control all the mechanical functions and procedures as well as the receiving of data from the computer and the interpretation of that data so that an image or document can be printed.
An inkjet printer is a really impressive piece of machinery even though it looks pretty simple. It takes quite a bit of work to transform a digital rendering of a page into a hard copy, paper version correctly and accurately with some kind of speed.
