There are a lot of different kinds of printers out there on the market. There are two basic kinds though. You can get your printers wide format or normal format. But what is the difference, you ask? Read on…
I am sure we have all seen printers in computer equipment stores and in the office. A lot of us even have printers in our homes for those miscellaneous things we sometimes need to print and do not want to have to go to an internet cafe to print. These will generally be normal format printers. This means that they are not able to print on anything bigger than an A4 sheet of paper. This means that if you are wanting to print things like banners or large posters you either have to outsource the printing or will have to stick a number of pages together to get the final image.
The wide format printers have much larger page printing capacities. You can generally define a printer as being a wide format printer if it is able to print pages between seventeen inches and a hundred inches in width. Anything larger is called grand or super wide format, but it is actually a form of wide format. These printers wide format printing companies use are ideal for making posters and things like that. There is generally no need to stick multiple pages together unless the poster is really long.
As you can see, there is a significant difference in the printers wide format printing requires and the printers normal, everyday printing requires. Your normal printers will not be able to print pages the size that your wide format printers will be able to print. This is because they are designed for everyday use, not for printing things like posters and billboards. If you are intending on printing a lot of things like this it will be better to make sure you get yourself a wide format, or even a super wide or grand format printer instead. They may cost you a little more to buy, but you will save money by not having to outsource all this kind of printing.
