How To Replace An Epson Ink Cartridge

It is inevitable that your Epson printer will run out of ink at some stage or another, unless you never use it. When this happens your printer will warn you that you need to buy a new Epson ink cartridge. Here is what you need to do with the Epson ink cartridge once you have it and the one in your printer is empty.

The first thing to note is that if you have an Epson printer, you should only use Epson ink. It is formulated specially for the printer and any other ink may well damage the printer. You should also never leave an ink cartridge slot empty as this will allow ink that remains in the head nozzles to dry and block them. refilling your Epson ink cartridge will not save you any money as they are equipped with a chip which records the amount of ink in the cartridge and cannot be reset. All cartridges should contain ink before any printing is done. Ink is consumed during printing, print head cleaning. Self cleaning and regular operation.

When replacing the ink cartridge, make sure the printer is on. The power light should not be flashing. Open the printer cover by following the instructions either on the printer or that came with the printer. Press the ink button to bring the print head into position for the cartridge to be replaced. You should not hold down this button for more than three seconds as this will initiate a self cleaning process. Also only use the ink button to move the print head as doing it by hand could damage your printer.

Then you need to remove the old cartridge. Dispose of it properly. Remove the new one from its packaging and insert it into the slot that is now left open. Be careful not to touch the chip or the cartridge nozzle. Close the printer and allow it to install the cartridge. If the error light flashes, remove the new cartridge and reinstall it. Should the problem persist, contact the technical support offices for the printer to ask for help in solving the problem.
